We welcome and honor our friends who choose to join our Grameen Foundation Planned Giving Society. In addition to helping support the foundation’s global programs, your legacy gift can benefit you and your family through tax benefits and reduced estate and income taxes. As a member, Grameen Foundation will recognize you with a special certificate of honor. With your consent, we will list your name in our annual report as a way to pay tribute and to encourage others to follow your leadership example. If you wish, you may make your legacy gift anonymously.

Most important of all, you will remain part of our future, helping Grameen Foundation continue its mission to eradicate world poverty — one entrepreneurial person at a time.

Consider these simple forms of leaving a legacy of support for the work of Grameen Foundation:

Make a bequest to Grameen Foundation through your will.

A bequest to Grameen Foundation reduces your estate taxes while helping us continue to fight global poverty. You can specify a specific dollar amount, or designate a percentage of the estate or its residue to go to Grameen Foundation after your heirs are provided for. Although we generally use gifts through bequests where needs are greatest, you can specify we use your bequest for a specific purpose.

What should I say in my bequest?

If you would like to include a charitable bequest in your will to support the future work of Grameen Foundation, we suggest the following language:
“I give and bequeath the sum of $______ (or ___% of my estate) to Grameen Foundation USA, to be used in support of its general charitable purposes.”

What are the tax benefits?

Please consult your tax advisor. For U.S. citizens, a bequest to Grameen Foundation may be eligible for an estate tax charitable deduction.

Make Grameen Foundation the beneficiary of your life insurance policy.

Millions of people own life insurance, but in many cases, the original purpose for purchasing the policy no longer applies. Simply by naming Grameen Foundation the beneficiary and owner of your policy, you can make a generous gift without any loss of income or disruption to other assets.  In addition, by transferring ownership and benefit, US citizens will be entitled to an income tax deduction, according to IRS rules. As with bequests, the amount Grameen Foundation receives through life insurance is generally used where the needs are the greatest, but we will gladly honor your request to use it for a specific purpose or program.

Note: Please be sure to use Grameen Foundation’s legal name, Grameen Foundation USA, in your legal documents.
